Things to do in Phuket

Climb The Big Buddha Of Phuket

In the south of the island, on top of Nakkerd hill, stands an iconic 45-meter tall white marble statue known as the Big Buddha.

In addition to being a landmark, Big Buddha is also a religious site; you should dress appropriately to respect it. If you wear shorts or skirts above the knee, you’ll need to wear the sarong provided by security.

Getting up there is a little steep, but the road is well paved, and the panoramic view from the top are well worth it.

On the way down, stop at one of the many bars offering panoramic views of Karon Beach.

The Big Buddha can be easily reached with a motorbike or car. Tuk-tuks will take you there as well and wait for you once you reach the top. Most sightseeing tours include a visit to the Big Buddha

Plane Spotting On Mai Khao Beach

The sight of these enormous flying machines approaching from afar and getting closer to you in a roar is breathtaking. When they are about to land, they fly so low over the turquoise water that you can almost touch the wheels.

Planes land over Mai Khao beach during the high season (November to May) when the wind blows east to west! In the low season, planes will land from the other side, over the main road. But this is only an indication; weather conditions can change.

It is technically illegal to be under the path of a plane, but no one seems to care.

Phuket Waterparks

Phuket has two large water parks, Splash Jungle and Blue Tree Phuket, as well as another one under construction.

Although you can have just as much fun on the beach, theme parks offer a great alternative when the sea is rough, with slides, ziplines, and paddleboards.

Phuket Aquaria

Phuket has two aquariums, the original Phuket Aquarium in Cape Panwa, on the southeast coast, and the new Aquaria in Phuket Town.

Cape Panwa Aquarium is more of a marine biological centre that often rescues dolphins, dugongs and turtles.

Under the Central Floresta Shopping Mall lies Aquaria, Phuket’s newest and largest aquarium, it even has a restaurant.

Have Dinner On Rang Hill

Rang Hill is a beautiful viewpoint above Phuket town, offering spectacular views both during the day and at night with the city lights.

Enjoy the view from the panoramic platform and stay for lunch or dinner at the nearby Tunk Ka Cafe or Khaorang Breeze Restaurant.

Getting there is easy, you can take the tuk-tuk or take your own transportation.

Bathe With Elephants

Phuket has many elephant sanctuaries. Some allow you to get up close with the elephants and experience them like never before.

You can even help them bath by scrubbing them with mud.

Phuket Shooting Range

If you enjoy shooting or it is something you have wanted to try, you can go to a shooting range in Phuket.

The ranges are managed by professional shooters who take safety very seriously.

Shooting can be an extremely exhilarating experience.

Enjoy The Sunset At Patong Beach

There is nothing more relaxing in my mind than sitting on a beach enjoying a nice cold beer while the sunsets into the ocean.

You can experience this at Patong Beach.

Whether you enjoy a nice cold beer or not the Patong beach sunset will blow your mind.

Party In Bangla Road

Even though Bangla Road might not be to everyone’s taste, judging from the crowds who walk up and down Patong walking street every evening, Bangla is on many people’s must-see list.

Despite what most people think, Soi Bangla is not just a ‘Sin City for Single Men’. It’s a colorful, bustling street full of life, restaurants, shops, bars and dancing girls.

You will often see couples having drinks in Patong, it’s a lot easier going than Bangkok or Pattaya.

Bangla Road is an all-year-round party spot. Nothing happens during the day, and the street closes to traffic around 7 p.m. The party atmosphere kicks in around 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.
